LOÏC PRIGENT SIGNS A UNIQUE DIOR DOCUMENTARY

This is a story of passions, encounters, flow, and sorority. An essential narrative related by the women who have joined forces with Maria Grazia Chiuri on her various shows for the House since her arrival in 2016. Loïc Prigent, a discreet witness, has made an unprecedented documentary* – entitled HER DIOR – Maria Grazia Chiuri’s collaborations with women artists – highlighting the Creative Director’s commitment to promoting art and letting it unfold through female plurality.

By turns, leading figures of the international art scene share their experience. They include Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie – whose essay We Should All Be Feminists** sparked a statement T-shirt, an emblematic piece in Maria Grazia Chiuri’s first collection and a symbol of her unwavering support of feminist creation – Tomaso Binga, Robin Morgan, Penny Slinger, Judy Chicago, Fulvia Carnevale, Silvia Giambrone, Sharon Eyal, Eva Jospin, Anna Paparatti, Mariella Bettineschi, Mickalene Thomas, Joana Vasconcelos, Elina Chauvet, Isabella Ducrot, Suzanne Santoro, SAGG Napoli, Brigitte Niedermair and Brigitte Lacombe. All of them, offering priceless anecdotes, talk about the sincere, powerful bonds they have forged with the Creative Director, unforgettable moments that can continue, be extended and renewed through captivating collective projects.

Season after season, painters, visual artists, photographers, performers and writers have accompanied and sublimated her collections with their visions, their values and their messages. Dialogues as unique as they are fundamental have provided extraordinary paradigms for expression: so many singular works, marvelously enhancing Dior silhouettes. Several of these creations have given rise to remarkable exhibitions: a prodigious fusion of art and fashion that stands the test of time.

In the company of curators and historians with whom she collaborates and regularly exchanges ideas – such as Maria Alicata, Paola Ugolini, Elena Del Drago, Anne Pasternak and, of course, Rachele Regini, her daughter – Maria Grazia Chiuri retraces, from her beloved native city Rome, the fabulous odyssey punctuated by discoveries and reinterpretations, showcasing the creative strength of women. An opportunity to look back on the friendship that unites her with Karishma Swali, the director of the Chanakya ateliers and the Chanakya School of Craft, which transcribe the installations of numerous Dior défilés into monumental embroideries.

Throughout this film, fascinating archives (primordial sources of inspiration) are revealed along with intimate, profound discussions and emotion-filled scenes of which the subject, the essence, can be summed up in a single word: sisterhood.
