GUCCI TAKES OVER TIMES SQUARE WITH “GUCCICORE” CRUISE 2027 SPECTACLE
Gucci staged a dramatic takeover of New York’s Times Square for its Cruise 2027 show, unveiling a bold new concept titled “GucciCore.” The presentation transformed the iconic plaza into a full-scale runway powered by massive digital billboards, signaling a new chapter in the House’s global identity.
Creative Director Demna framed the collection as part of his ongoing “character studies” approach, this time focusing on the everyday people who define New York City. The cast reflected a wide social spectrum, from Wall Street professionals in sharp tailoring to Brooklyn skaters in relaxed denim, and uptown luxury archetypes styled in plush leather and elevated silhouettes.
The spectacle extended beyond clothing. Times Square screens displayed fictional Gucci sub-labels such as “Gucci Pets,” “Gucci Gym,” and “Palazzo Gucci,” expanding the brand into a conceptual lifestyle universe. Invitations arrived as antique-style brass keys, referencing the secretive Gucci Galleria of the 1980s.
The runway fused utility and opulence: Web stripes reimagined as bandeau tops, Horsebit hardware transformed into sculptural boot details, and high craftsmanship expressed through embroidery, shearling, and technical fabrics.
The front row and runway drew major attention with appearances from Paris Hilton, Candice Swanepoel, and a surprise runway moment from Tom Brady, whose all-leather look quickly went viral.
GucciCore positions itself not as a seasonal drop but as a permanent wardrobe vision rooted in New York’s pluralistic street identity, blending luxury heritage with everyday urban realism.
